Photo taken by Harold Tillison
Last Friday Senator Coghill presented to LeNora Conkle a legislative citation at the Fairbanks Pioneer's Home in recognition of her volunteerism and dedication to North Pole.

As volunteer historian of Santa's Senior Center, LeNora has been instrumental in documenting and archiving the history of the senior center in North Pole.

LeNora, who celebrated her 100th birthday last August, is also a recognized author of books about the life in bush Alaska managing hunting and fishing camps, most notably Wind in the Water and Bush Pilot's Wives.

The Pioneer's Home had a reception for LeNora to celebrate the legislature's recognition of her volunteerism and her contributions as a pioneer of Alaska. In the photo above are (L to R): Senator John Coghill, LeNora Conkle, granddaughter Corri Conkle, and Ardena Morway.
